Warning, the train station is not at the port, its a taxi ride away. We didnt realise and nearly missed our train there. Made it, lovely day in Santiago, but check that detail before you relax.
Standing in the Obradoiro square watching pilgrims arrive with their backpacks and sticks, some of them crying, was something I did not expect to feel on a cruise stop. We just sat on the steps for a while taking it in.
We had a short call so we skipped Santiago entirely and just did Vigo. The oyster street with a glass of albarino was a proper Galician moment. Save Santiago for when your ship stays late, otherwise its a scramble.
