Docked, but 3 km from town at Puerto de los Marmoles. Take the shuttle, a EUR 5 taxi, or a local bus; walking is a hot 30-45 minutes.

Main Attractions
Timanfaya's volcanoes and the Cesar Manrique lava caves are the island's stars. In town, the Charco de San Gines lagoon and El Reducto beach.
How Much Time You Need
A full standard call is needed to do the island. Arrecife town alone fills a relaxed 3-4 hours.
Keep in Mind
Public transport does not reach the volcanoes. To see Timanfaya and the lava caves on your own, pre-book a rental car; buses only serve the resorts and town.

Very safe and tourist-friendly. Lanzarote is easy and low-hassle; the main issue is logistics, not safety.

We booked a little hire car online before the cruise and it made the day. Drove out to Timanfaya, did the caves, back with time to spare. Without a car you're basically stuck in Arrecife, which is nice enough but not why you come to Lanzarote.
just did the town, walked round that pretty lagoon with all the white houses and had a beer by the water. shuttle in was easy. didnt fancy the whole car faff, no regrets
Shared a taxi tour with another couple, about 200 euro for the car but split it was fine. Driver took us round Timanfaya and the Jameos caves and we didn't have to walk far, which suited us. The volcano landscape is like another planet.
Hired a car and did Jameos del Agua, the kids loved the cave with the little crabs and the lagoon. Roads are easy and everything's signposted. Long-ish drives between things with kids but worth it, back onboard tired and happy.
Assumed we could bus to Timanfaya. You can't, really. Wasted an hour figuring that out then just gave up and stayed in Arrecife. Lovely lagoon but I'd wanted the volcanoes. Sort your transport before you go.
