Docked at Muelle de Trasatlanticos, beside the old town. You walk off through a small terminal and the center is 5-10 minutes away.
How to Get Into Town
The old town is a 5-10 min walk, free. For Santiago, taxi or bus to the station then a 29-min train (from ~EUR 8 each way).
Main Attractions
The Tower of Hercules, old town and glass galleries define the city. For many, the real draw is a train to Santiago de Compostela.
How Much Time You Need
3-4 hours does the city and Tower. A Santiago de Compostela day trip needs most of a standard call.
Keep in Mind
Santiago is easy but time-sensitive. The train is quick, but you must reach the station first and mind the return, so leave a real buffer.

We just walked off into Maria Pita square in about ten minutes, no fuss at all. Did the old town, then bussed out to the Tower of Hercules which is a proper stair climb but worth it for the views. Lovely low-key port.

Flat and gentle around the harbour which was perfect for us. We skipped the Tower climb and just admired it from below, then sat in the square people watching. No stress, no transfers, our kind of port.
We did the aquarium and the city beach rather than trailing to Santiago with little ones. Walkable, flat, easy with the buggy. The kids paddled at Riazor and we still had ice cream time before all aboard.
Taxied to the station, 9:40 train to Santiago, about half an hour, three hours at the cathedral and back by 3. Cheaper than the ship's tour by a mile. Just watch the train times because they're roughly hourly, not constant.
Cut the Santiago trip too fine and nearly missed the train back, ended up standing the whole way sweating about the time. Beautiful cathedral but I'd have been calmer just doing A Coruna itself, which is a nice city in its own right.
