We did Corralejo on the number 6. Walked to the station, 3.40 euros each, about 45 minutes up. Gorgeous dunes. The only stress was making sure we caught the right bus back with enough spare, we gave ourselves loads of buffer and it worked out.
didn't fancy the trek north so just walked into town, saw the sculptures, had a beer by the marina and a dip at the little beach. quiet but fine for a chilled day.
Took a taxi to Caleta de Fuste instead of the big dunes because it was closer and calmer for the kids. Only about 15 minutes and a lovely sheltered beach. Way less faff than dragging them 40km.
Honestly the capital was pretty sleepy, it was a Sunday and half of it was shut. Should have committed to Corralejo but we dithered and ran out of time. Bit of a wasted stop, our own fault really.
The walk to the bus station in the heat was more than we bargained for. We managed but I'd tell anyone with dodgy knees to just get a taxi or stay near the port. The little beach by the ship was enough for us in the end.
