Tender or Docked?
Almost always docked at Brattøra, a flat 15-20 min walk from the center. Walk off the gangway and you are essentially there.
How to Get Into Town
A flat 15-20 min walk into the center, free. A local AtB bus is about 50 NOK if you would rather ride.
Main Attractions
Nidaros Cathedral, the Old Town Bridge, and Bakklandet are the headline stops. All are within a short walk of each other.
How Much Time You Need
4-5 hours covers the center comfortably. Everything worthwhile is within a walkable loop.

Check the cathedral's opening and service times. Access can be limited during services and events.

Very safe and relaxed. Trondheim is one of the easiest ports for a solo walk into town.

Turned up at the cathedral and there was a service on so we couldnt go in for a while. Ended up just wandering Bakklandet instead which was fine, but check the times if the cathedral is your main thing.
Lovely flat walk from the ship, which suited us. We did the cathedral and the bridge and left the fortress for the younger folk. My knees thanked me. Whole thing was gentle and unrushed.
Bought an AtB app ticket, about 50 kroner, took a minute. Rode up near the fortress, walked back down through the old streets. Back aboard with loads of time.
After Geiranger this felt almost too easy, in a good way. No tender, no coach, just a flat stroll to a huge medieval cathedral. Nice change of pace.
