I stressed about the Flam Railway for weeks before the cruise, kept reading it sells out. Booked online in February the second summer dates opened. On the day two ships were in and it was mobbed, but we had our tickets and got there early for a window seat. Relief is an understatement. Just book it ahead and stop worrying.
Loveliest surprise of the trip, you literally walk off the ship and there's the village. We did the train up and back, no rush, sat and watched the waterfalls. My wife uses a stick and it was all flat and easy. Wish every port was this simple.
didnt realise there are no seat reservations. had a ticket but rocked up ten minutes before and ended up standing in the aisle for the first half. still beautiful but get there early, thats the real trick nobody tells you
Did the Naeroyfjord cruise instead of the train this time and honestly preferred it. Silent electric boat, cliffs closing in overhead, incredible. Sat at the back with a coffee and barely spoke the whole two hours.
