We did the Flam Railway and it was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen from a train window. But we had booked the tickets six weeks before the cruise. Without that booking we would not have been able to go, the trains were sold out.
Our ship had eight hours in Bergen and we made the mistake of trying to do both the Flam Railway and proper time in Bergen. We were rushing from the moment we left the ship and running back at the end. Next time we would choose one or the other.
stayed in bergen the whole day. bryggen in the morning, fish market for a late breakfast (smoked salmon, ate it standing up at the counter), funicular after that. no rush, no plans. one of the better port days ive had.
