2-3 hours covers the town and the view. A far scenic drive needs most of the day and firm planning.

The famous scenery is not in town. The Atlantic Road and Trollstigen are hours away, so book a tour ahead if that is your goal.

Took a taxi up to Varden, about 220 kroner, spent 20 minutes up there for the view, taxied back down. Whole thing under an hour and honestly the best view of the cruise. Worth every krone.
Made the mistake of assuming we could just book the Atlantic Road when we got off. Everything was full. Ended up in town wishing we'd sorted it in advance. Lovely town but not what we came for.
