Tender or Docked?

Tendered into town or docked just outside it. Many ships anchor and tender to Victoria Pier in the center; larger ones berth at Mair's Pier or Holmsgarth, a short bus from town.

How to Get Into Town

Tender straight into town, or a cheap bus from the pier. Central Lerwick is walkable the moment you land at Victoria Pier.

Main Attractions

Norse ruins, puffins, and a free museum. Jarlshof, Sumburgh Head, and the Shetland Museum are the headline options, all reachable independently.

How Much Time You Need

A full day suits the south. Town alone is quick, but Jarlshof and Sumburgh need bus time each way.

Keep in Mind

Check the southern bus times before you go. Bus 6 is cheap and reliable but not frequent, so plan your return carefully.

Safety & Comfort

Very safe and easy. Shetland has very low crime and simple English-language logistics.

Tips from Cruisers

"Took the number 6 bus down to Jarlshof, two quid each, unbelievable value. The site really is something, four thousand years stack…" — by Alan
