Tender or Docked?

Docked at Hatston or tendered into town, depending on the ship. Larger ships use Hatston Pier with a free shuttle; some berth or tender right at Kirkwall Harbour.

How to Get Into Town

Free shuttle from Hatston, about 7 minutes. If you tender or dock at Kirkwall Pier you are already walking distance from the center.

Main Attractions

Neolithic Orkney is the headline. Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, and the Standing Stones of Stenness sit close together, with St Magnus Cathedral right in town.

How Much Time You Need

Plan for a full port day. The sights are spread across the mainland, so buses and buffers eat real time.

Keep in Mind

Rural buses are infrequent, so plan the return. Missing the one bus back from Skara Brae can put your all-aboard at risk.

Safety & Comfort

Very safe and easy. Orkney has very low crime and simple, English-language logistics.
