Easy little port. Off the ship, ten minutes into town, and we caught the local bus out to the Viking farm at Avaldsnes for next to nothing. In summer they have people in costume doing the old crafts. Nice half day and we saved a fortune over the ship tour.
Took the kids to Viking Planet right in town, all VR and screens, which held their attention better than I expected. Then an ice cream on the waterfront. Compact enough that we never had to drag tired legs very far.
Pleasant but quiet. We'd hoped to see the big Langfoss waterfall but realized too late it's an hour and a half each way, so that was off the table without a tour. Ended up strolling the town, which was fine, just not the day we'd pictured.
Flat and gentle underfoot, which suits us. We walked out to the Haraldshaugen monument, took our time, sat in the sun by the sea. No hills, no rush. A restful sort of port day.
just walked the long shopping street and sat by the water at smedasundet watching the boats. tidy, calm, easy. didnt spend much because norway prices but had a lovely slow morning
