Can you do this cruise port on your own?
Eidfjord
DIY Score
Easy DIY
Walk the village, then take the pier shuttle to the waterfall.
Tender or Docked?
Docked in the middle of the village. Step off and the shops, church, and waterfront are a two-minute walk away.
How to Get Into Town
The village is a free 2-minute walk off the ship. The Vøringsfossen shuttle from the pier is about 440 NOK round trip.
Main Attractions
Vøringsfossen waterfall is the headline; the village fills the rest. Both are easy to do independently, with the nature centre a stop en route.
How Much Time You Need
4-5 hours does the village and the waterfall comfortably. Even a short call covers both.
Keep in Mind
Book the waterfall shuttle early on a busy day. Seats fill when several ships share the port.
Safety & Comfort
One of the safest ports anywhere. The only real hazards are weather and steep waterfall paths.

honestly the village is tiny, we did it in about 40 mins. sat with a coffee looking at the fjord and called it a day. not everything has to be a big excursion.
Did the waterfall but stayed up top near the car park rather than doing all the steps. Colin's knees wouldnt have managed the sky bridge. Still got a wonderful view without the climb.
Much better value doing the falls yourself than the ship tour, which was nearly double for the same shuttle. Norway ports are so easy, everyone speaks English and it all just works.
Two ships in port and the shuttle sold out before we got to the desk. Ended up stuck in the village which is nice but we came for the waterfall. Book it the second you get off if you can.
