Can you do this cruise port on your own?
St George's
DIY Score
Easy DIY
Take the $5 water taxi to Grand Anse; agree taxi fares first.
Tender or Docked?
Docked at the Melville Street terminal. You walk off into the Esplanade shopping area, a few minutes from the town center.
How to Get Into Town
Town is a 5-minute walk; Grand Anse is a $5 water taxi. The terminal opens onto the Esplanade, and the beach boat leaves from the pier.
Main Attractions
A standout beach and spice-island rainforest. Grand Anse, Annandale Falls, and Fort George are the headline options.
How Much Time You Need
Half a day does the beach or a fall. Pick beach time or the interior, not a full island loop.
Keep in Mind
Confirm the taxi fare before you ride. Grenada uses government-set per-destination rates, so ask the total and whether it is per person or per trip up front.
Safety & Comfort
Generally safe and friendly. The main friction is taxi negotiation and hills, not crime.

The little water taxi over to Grand Anse is five dollars and honestly one of the nicest transfers in the Caribbean, you get the whole harbor and coastline. Beach itself is the real deal too. Did it independently for a fraction of the ship price.
Driver quoted us a price to Grand Etang and we made sure to nail down the return time before getting in. Glad we did, the road was slow and it clouded over. We built in an hour spare and needed most of it.
Wanted to walk up to Fort George for the views and did not appreciate how steep the town is. By the time we got up there in the heat we were drenched. View was good but I'd take a taxi up next time and only walk down.
shared a taxi to annandale falls with two other couples off the ship, cheap once you split it. paved path right to the falls, local lads jumping off the top for tips. easy and fun, back by early afternoon
We skipped the hills and the interior and just took the water taxi to Grand Anse, found a shady spot and stayed put. Gentle sand, calm water, easy in and out. Sometimes one good beach is the whole day and that's fine by us.
