Old town cobbles were a bit much for my wife’s knees but the Malecon was flat and lovely. We skipped the lighthouse climb, no chance, and just took it easy with a coffee on the square.
We took a pulmonia to the old town, agreed 12 dollars before getting in, and had a wonderful few hours around Plaza Machado. Felt perfectly comfortable in the tourist parts. Just don’t go wandering off the main drag.
Did Stone Island with the kids, quick boat over and a long quiet beach. Way calmer than the Golden Zone. Agreed the boat price at the terminal first so no surprises.
Golden Zone was wall to wall timeshare guys the second we stepped out. Wore us down. Next time I’d stick to the old town, which was much more relaxed and interesting anyway.
