Can you do this cruise port on your own?
Mahe (Victoria)
DIY Score
Doable with planning
Mahe's beaches are easy; outer islands need pre-booked ferries and tight timing.
Tender or Docked?
Usually docked in Victoria, the capital. You walk off the pier and into town in 10-20 minutes, with taxis at a car park about 300 m from the ship.
How to Get Into Town
Taxi to Beau Vallon: ~15 min, SCR 275-400 (about $20-30). Victoria town itself is a flat 10-20 minute walk from the pier.
Main Attractions
Beau Vallon and Mahe's beaches, or a ferry to Praslin and La Digue. The island beaches are easy; the outer bays reward careful planning.
How Much Time You Need
Half a day for a Mahe beach; a full day for the outer islands. The ferry trips fill the whole call.
Keep in Mind
The return ferry is a hard deadline. Miss the last Cat Cocos back from Praslin or La Digue and you miss the ship.
Safety & Comfort
A relaxed, generally safe port. Opportunistic beach theft is the main thing to guard against.

Ferries here need respecting. Timetable is thin and the crossing is longer than people expect. If your call is under about nine hours I'd just do Mahe and save Praslin for a land holiday.
Did La Digue on the Cat Cocos, booked both ferries weeks before. Early boat over, bikes to Anse Source d'Argent, and I made myself catch the 2pm back even though I wanted to stay. Cutting it any finer would have terrified me with the ship leaving at 6.
We hired a taxi driver for the morning to show us the south of the island. He was lovely, stopped wherever we wanted, and we saw three beaches without any ferry stress. Worth every dollar at our age.
honestly just taxied to beau vallon, swam, had a rum punch and a fish curry at a beach cafe, taxied back. didnt overthink it. sometimes thats the whole holiday
We wanted Praslin but the only ferry that fit got us back with barely an hour to spare, so we bottled it and stayed on Mahe. Beau Vallon was gorgeous to be fair, but I was a bit gutted not to see the famous beaches.
