Tender or Docked?

Usually docked at Muttrah, close to the Corniche and Souq. Muttrah's cruise terminal puts you within walking distance of the main bazaar.

How to Get Into Town

Muttrah Souq is a 10-minute walk from the terminal. For the Grand Mosque and Old Muscat, hire a taxi at the gate (about OMR 10/hr).

Main Attractions

Muttrah Souq, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and Old Muscat's Al Alam Palace district are the three headline sights. All are within 30 minutes of the port.

How Much Time You Need

8-9 hours allows a comfortable circuit of all three. The Grand Mosque closes at 11 am; plan to be there before 9:30 am.

Keep in Mind

The Grand Mosque is closed Fridays and to non-Muslims after 11 am on other days. Build your day around this window.

Safety & Comfort

Very safe and comfortable with minimal tourist-targeted scams or personal safety issues.

Tips from Cruisers

"The Grand Mosque genuinely took our breath away. It opened exactly at 8 and we had it almost to ourselves for the first 20 minutes…" — by Helen R.
