Misty Fjords by floatplane is the standout: sheer granite walls, waterfalls, and fjords that are impossible to see any other way. Creek Street and the totem collections make a satisfying half-day on their own.

3-4 hours covers the town well. Add a floatplane tour and you need 7+ hours.

The Totem Heritage Center was one of the most meaningful stops of our Alaska cruise. Original 19th-century totems rescued from abandoned Tlingit and Haida villages, displayed inside with detailed cultural context. $8 admission and worth double. Much more serious and informative than the park at Saxman, though both are worth seeing.
We booked a Misty Fjords flightseeing tour independently — same floatplane operator the ship uses, $50 less per person. 1.5-hour flight through the fjords, landed on a remote lake, and flew back. It was raining when we took off and the pilot said the mist actually improves the views. He was right.
Creek Street is small but genuinely interesting. The boardwalk over the creek, the old fishing cabins turned shops, and Dolly's House Museum (former brothel, fun tour) took about 90 minutes. Then walked over the bridge to the Married Man's Trail. Easy and all within 10 minutes of the ship.
