Nobody warned us the port is just an industrial dock. We got off expecting something and it was straw stalls and a parking lot. Once we shared a van to Port Lucaya it was fine, but manage your expectations at the gate.
shared taxi to port lucaya, spent the day between the shops and the beach right there. count basie square had a band going, had conch and a rum punch. easy relaxed day, nothing fancy
We caught a shared van at 10, paid $10 each, back at the ship by 2:30. Short call for us so we didnt risk the national park even though I wanted to see gold rock beach. Next time.
Took the kids to Taino Beach and it was perfect for them, calm water, sand, a beach bar for lunch. The taxi was the only faff. Would just go straight to the beach again next time.
Freeport is a beach-and-shop day, not a sightseeing one. If you've done Nassau you'll notice there's no walkable town here at all. We just did Port Lucaya and called it good.
