grabbed the 500 yen tram pass and did the whole city on it. museum, peace park, then walked to glover garden near the port. easily one of the best value port days in japan. dont bother with a ship tour here, the tram does it all
honestly a bit nervous doing japan solo with my zero japanese but nagasaki was totally fine. tram signs have english, people were kind, museum has an audio guide. glover garden has escalators up the hill which my legs appreciated
Booked the Gunkanjima tour weeks ahead and then the landing got cancelled because of the sea. The boat still went out around the island and it was eerie and fascinating, but manage your expectations, that landing is genuinely a coin flip with the weather.
We debated whether the atomic museum was right for our 13 and 15 year olds. In the end we went and they were quiet and thoughtful the whole time, asked good questions after. Heavy but worth it. The hillside at Glover Garden after was a lighter note to end on.
