Tender or Docked?

Always docked, but your pier decides your day. Big ships use Marine Port about 5 km south of town; smaller ships use the North Pier right in the city.

How to Get Into Town

Free shuttle to Tenmonkan downtown, then a ~15-minute, ~¥200 ferry to Sakurajima. A ¥1,300 CUTE pass covers trams, buses, and the ferry.

Main Attractions

Sakurajima volcano is the headline, an easy ferry away. Add Sengan-en garden or the Tenmonkan streets for a full day.

How Much Time You Need

Half a day does Sakurajima; a full call adds the city or Sengan-en. The ferry is short, so time pressure is mild.

Keep in Mind

Know which pier you dock at. Marine Port needs a shuttle into the city; the North Pier is already there, and it changes your timing.

Safety & Comfort

Very safe and orderly, with the language barrier the only real friction.
