Walked to the port gate, opened Grab, car to Hoi An was about 300k dong, maybe 45 minutes. Spent the day in the old town, lanterns and tailor shops and the best banh mi of my life. Grabbed a car back and had loads of time. So much cheaper than the ship tour.
The taxis right by the ship quoted us a silly flat rate for Hoi An. We didn't realise you're meant to walk to the gate for Grab and wasted a while arguing. Once we figured it out it was easy and cheap, but nobody tells you that up front.
Did Ba Na Hills with the kids for the Golden Bridge. Long drive and a big cable car but the kids loved the whole thing. Just know it eats basically your whole day, we were watching the clock on the way back.
Marble Mountains was more steps than my knees wanted, though there's a lift for part of it. We did the easier temple at the bottom and Lady Buddha instead, which is close to the port and free. Lovely calm morning.
just grabbed a car into da nang, walked the riverfront, saw the dragon bridge, sat with an iced coffee watching the scooters. didnt do any big excursion and had a great relaxed day. grab makes this port so simple
