Can you do this cruise port on your own?
Belfast
DIY Score
Doable with planning
Choose one: Titanic Museum or Giant's Causeway. Both on one day is too much.
Tender or Docked?
Ships dock at Stormont Wharf or Pollock Dock, 3-4 km from the city center. A taxi takes 15-20 minutes; some cruise lines run a port shuttle.
How to Get Into Town
Taxi to the Titanic Museum: 10 min, ~£10-12. To Belfast city center, 15-20 min, ~£10-15. Some ships run a port shuttle.
Main Attractions
Titanic Belfast is genuinely one of the best maritime museums in Europe. Giant's Causeway is the other reason to visit this port, but it requires the whole day.
How Much Time You Need
Titanic Museum alone needs 3-4 hours plus travel time; Giant's Causeway fills 8-9 hours of a port call. These two options require the full day each and cannot be combined.
Keep in Mind
Giant's Causeway day-tour buses drop off in Belfast city center, not at the cruise terminal. Add a taxi from the bus drop-off to the port as part of your return plan.
Safety & Comfort
Belfast is safe and very easy to navigate independently, with English throughout, reliable taxis, and low tourist crime risk.

We did the Titanic Museum and it was honestly better than I expected. Three hours inside and we weren't done. The black taxi mural tour afterward gave the rest of the day some historical context. We didn't try for the Causeway and it was the right call.
Took the day-tour bus to Giant's Causeway. Left at 8:45, got back to Belfast center around 6pm. Bus dropped us in the city, not the port, so we had to get a taxi from City Hall which took about 20 minutes to find. Got to the ship with 45 minutes to spare. Stunning but that return step needs planning.
