Can you do this cruise port on your own?
Trapani
DIY Score
Easy DIY
Pick one: Favignana by hydrofoil or Erice by cable car, not both.
Tender or Docked?
Usually docked, a 5-10 min walk into the old town. The hydrofoil dock for the Egadi Islands is right at the port.
How to Get Into Town
Old town: a flat 5-10 min walk, free. Favignana is a 30-40 min hydrofoil from EUR 11; Erice a cable car up from EUR 6.50 one way.
Main Attractions
Favignana's turquoise coves or medieval Erice up the cable car. The old town and salt pans round out an easy Sicilian day.
How Much Time You Need
A full call lets you do the town plus one big trip. Budget about 5-6 hours for a Favignana or Erice outing with transit.
Keep in Mind
Do not try to combine Favignana and Erice in one call. Each is a half-day with transit on its own, and stacking both risks missing the ship.
Safety & Comfort
A calm, low-key Sicilian port. Generally safe with normal city awareness; the main challenges are logistics, not crime.

Booked the Favignana hydrofoil online the night before and thank goodness, the counter was mobbed in the morning and people were being turned away. The island itself was heaven on a bike. But yeah, sort your tickets first.
just did the town honestly. wandered the old streets, ate a huge plate of couscous by the water, bought some marzipan fruit. didnt need a plan and didnt want one.
Quieter and gentler than Palermo, which suited me after a hectic week. Went up to Erice, had an almond granita, came back down. Simple and lovely.
We rented bikes on Favignana and cycled to Cala Rossa. Kids grumbled at first then didn't want to leave the water. Rocky getting in though, wish we'd packed the water shoes we left on the ship.
Cut it far too fine coming back from Favignana. The 4 o clock boat was full and we sweated on the next one. Made it, but I aged a year at that ferry dock. Give yourself way more time than you think.
Erice was the highlight for us. The cable car does all the climbing so you arrive fresh, then it's just slow pottering around the little stone streets. My wife uses a stick and managed the flatter parts fine.
