Docked at Palacrociere, no tender. The old town is a flat 10-minute walk down Via Paleocapa, and the train station is about a kilometre away.

Savona old town is a 10-minute walk; Genoa is a 35-40 minute train, about EUR 4-8. The station is a kilometre from the pier.
Main Attractions

A standard call handles Savona plus a Genoa or Riviera day trip. Savona alone is a relaxed half day.

Savona is safe and easy, a low-stress introduction to independent travel on the Italian Riviera.
Tips from Cruisers
"People sleep on Savona. We walked off, ten minutes into the old town, coffee and focaccia, then trained to Genoa for the afternoon…" — by Elena P.
People sleep on Savona. We walked off, ten minutes into the old town, coffee and focaccia, then trained to Genoa for the afternoon. The aquarium was great and the whole day cost a fraction of the ship tour. One of the easiest embarkation ports we have used.
Stood on the Savona platform watching our train to Genoa vanish off the board and get replaced with a later time, then another. Turned out there was a partial strike. We still made the aquarium but I spent the ride there doing anxious maths about the return the whole way.
didnt even leave savona. wandered the old town, climbed up to the priamar fortress for the views, long lunch. small place but real and relaxed. nice change from the mega tourist ports
Trained down to Finale Ligure with the kids for a beach afternoon. Easy ride on the coast line, cheap tickets, and the kids got their swim. Back to Savona with loads of time. Way less stress than dragging them around a big city.
Because it was our disembarkation port we only had the morning, so we left the bags at the station and strolled the old town before our train to Milan. Flat, easy, no tender, perfect for a gentle last morning. Wish more ports were this simple.
