Can you do this cruise port on your own?
Monaco
DIY Score
Easy DIY
Grab a lift map; the sights are close but steeply uphill.
Tender or Docked?
Docked or tendered into Port Hercule, right in the city. Either way you land at the foot of the sights.
How to Get Into Town
You are already in town; the sights are a 15-min walk, free. Free public lifts spare you the worst of the hills.
Main Attractions
The Casino, Prince's Palace, and Oceanographic Museum are the walkable core. The old town and a train to Eze round out the day.
How Much Time You Need
A half day covers Monaco's highlights on foot. A full call lets you add Eze or Nice by train.
Keep in Mind
It is all uphill, so use the free lifts. Missing the lift network means a lot of unnecessary stairs.
Safety & Comfort
One of the safest places you will ever cruise to. Heavy policing and CCTV make crime rare.

I was worried about the hills at my age but honestly the free lifts saved us. There's one right from near the port up towards the old town. We did the palace and the cathedral without a single hard climb. Get the lift map, it's the whole trick.
just wandered around the harbour looking at the ridiculous yachts, walked up to casino square, watched the supercars pull up. didnt spend much, didnt need to. the whole place is like a film set
We hopped the train from Monaco to Eze, eight minutes, then the little bus up to the village. Spent an hour in the medieval lanes, trained back. Cost almost nothing compared to the ship's Eze tour and we set our own pace.
Small ship so we tied up right in Port Hercule and walked off into the middle of it all. Much better than the days you tender into Villefranche and bus over. Monaco itself needs no tour, it's tiny and you just walk it.
Beautiful but my goodness the prices. Two coffees and a sandwich by the port and I nearly fell off my chair. And we underestimated how steep it is before we found the elevators. Lovely once we sorted ourselves out, just come prepared for both.
