walked off the ship and was in the old town in five minutes. climbed the bell tower, had a coffee on the square, hopped the bus to piran in the afternoon. lovely low key day
People agonise over Ljubljana from here but it’s a long haul each way. We did Koper and Piran instead and had a far more relaxed day than the folks who spent hours on a coach.
Piran is postcard pretty but the bus back was busier than we expected and we stood the whole way. Fine, but leave time. My husband managed the flat old town easily, no hills to speak of.
Postojna Cave with the kids was brilliant, the little train through the cave was a hit. Long-ish drive but worth it. Koper old town for gelato after we got back.
