Tender or Docked?

Usually docked at the Chan May deep-water port. Gangway access is standard, but you will need a pre-booked vehicle waiting at the port gate, as there are no taxis or public transport here.

How to Get Into Town

Pre-booked private car to Hue: 80 minutes, about USD 50-70 per vehicle. To Da Nang: 60-75 minutes, about USD 40-60. To Hoi An: 90-120 minutes, about USD 60-80.

Main Attractions

Hue's Imperial Citadel is the most historically significant destination from this port. Hoi An's ancient town and Da Nang's Marble Mountains are the main alternatives.

How Much Time You Need

A 10-hour call gives about 5-6 usable hours on the ground. That is enough for the Imperial Citadel plus one tomb, or Hoi An old town without a second stop.

Keep in Mind

Choosing between Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An before you leave the ship is the most important decision of the day. All three are in different directions and combining any two is a stretch.

Safety & Comfort

Generally safe at all three destinations. The main nuisances are overpriced cyclo rides and persistent souvenir sellers near the Citadel.

Tips from Cruisers

"We went to Hue and the Imperial Citadel was genuinely worth the long drive. But we were exhausted from the heat before we even got…" — by Mark H.
