Tender or Docked?

Ships dock at Ashdod Port. You walk off via gangway into a working commercial port, then need transport to the port gate before picking up onward connections to Jerusalem.

How to Get Into Town

Private taxi to Jerusalem: 1-1.5 hrs, confirm a fixed price before departing. It is the most direct option, but arrange the return before you leave.

Main Attractions

Jerusalem's Old City holds the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and Via Dolorosa within a short walk of each other. Bethlehem adds the Church of the Nativity but requires a checkpoint crossing.

How Much Time You Need

Allow a full 8-10 hr call for Jerusalem alone. Add Bethlehem and you need 10+ hrs with almost no buffer.

Keep in Mind

Only one taxi company is cleared to drive back inside the port. If you don't plan the return before you leave, you will be stuck at the gate scrambling for a call-ahead pickup.

Safety & Comfort

Jerusalem's tourist areas are generally safe. The Bethlehem checkpoint is controlled and orderly, not dangerous, but can be slow.
