Can I do this cruise port on my own?
Salerno
DIY Score
Doable with planning
Check ferry status before you leave the ship; wind can ground afternoon departures.
Tender or Docked?
Ships dock at Molo Manfredi, and the ferry pier for Amalfi Coast departures is on the same waterfront. No tender, no shuttle needed.
How to Get Into Town
Ferry to Amalfi: 35 min, ~€12-16 each way. Departs from the same waterfront as your ship; buying early or online can save queue time at the dock in summer.
Main Attractions
Amalfi town and Positano are the headline draws, each offering very different moods; Ravello above is quieter and worth the bus if you have time.
How Much Time You Need
A 9-hour call gives a solid Amalfi Coast day. Two villages in one day is comfortable; three is ambitious.
Keep in Mind
Afternoon ferry cancellations due to wind are a real possibility. Check conditions before your last ferry, not when you are already on the dock.
Safety & Comfort
Salerno and the Amalfi Coast are safe for independent travelers. The main friction points are the coast road traffic and the heat.

We took the 9am ferry to Amalfi, walked the cathedral and the old lanes, had a long seafood lunch on the waterfront, and were back on the ferry by 3pm. Completely smooth. The ferry from the ship's dock made it so easy. This was one of our favourite port days ever.
We stayed in Salerno and just walked the promenade and went to the cathedral. Kids were tired and the heat was serious. Sometimes the port itself is enough.
Our afternoon ferry back was cancelled. No warning, just a notice at the dock. We ended up on the SITA bus which took nearly two hours in traffic. We made the ship with 20 minutes to spare. It all worked out but please, have a plan B and check the weather before your last ferry.
Did Amalfi then the bus up to Ravello. Ravello was a revelation - hardly anyone there compared to Amalfi, gardens were gorgeous, view straight down the coast was something I won't forget. Budget a solid 90 minutes up there, its worth every minute.
went to positano and it was insanely beautiful and also insanely steep. every single thing you want to see involves a staircase. we're reasonably fit and we were done after 2 hours. no regrets but bring good shoes and accept your legs will hurt
